Does Bigger Mean Better?

The iPhone 6 is supposedly faster, more efficient, and better than the previous generations in every way. However, as more people purchase the device, weaknesses in the model are starting to emerge.  I’ve heard complaints about the phone bending easily and the massive increase in size making it nearly impossible to adjust. Are these complaints valid, and if so, do these things outweigh the positives of the latest iPhone?

Myth: The size of the iPhone 6 makes it hard to handle.

Reality: It is true that the phone is overwhelmingly large compared to previous models. But, remember last year when people were upset over the iOS 7 update? Now, those same people love it. This year, the size of the iPhone 6 is at the root of people’s complaints, and I’ll bet that by this time next year those same people complaining will be the same people praising apple for the size increase. Consumers are never truly happy – thus the whole reason a new iPhone is released every other year. So yes, the new iPhone is huge, barely fits in your pocket and uncomfortable to handle; however, people will adjust and adapt to the new feature like they always do.

Myth: The iPhone 6 bends so easily that it breaks.

Reality: The iPhone 6 bends easily. There have even been Youtube videos to prove it! But the truth is, if you put your mind to it nearly anything can and will bend. Yes, even a BlackBerry. Bend test after bend test strive to prove the inferiority of the latest iPhone compared to previous ones, but the reality is that they are overblown. The iPhone 6 may have a higher probability of bending because of its skinnier size, but that doesn’t mean if you apply any pressure it will suddenly cease to be straight.

Despite complaints, Apple clearly did something right; their revenues are soaring after the release of the iPhone 6. Although it takes slightly longer to charge, the battery is more resilient. The camera is better than ever and the screen has a higher resolution. In addition, there is a new health app that’s not only fun to play with, but can help you live a healthier lifestyle.

All upgrades have their cons. No perfect phone, computer, or tablet exists. It’s likely that none ever will. The iPhone 6 may be massive and prone to bending, but there are so many other positives that make it worth breaking the bank.
