The Most Nostalgic Thing You’ll Read Today

Tracy Geng, Student Life Editor

I’ll admit: I’m a little more than excited to graduate. (Seriously, seniors, if you’re not counting down the days, what are you doing? Your homework?) I can’t wait until the day that we walk across the stage at Grace Church and hear our names called for the last time by Mr. Erickson. I’d like to think that I’ll never be in high school again but let’s be real…who isn’t going to come back and visit MHS and its beloved teachers? See our old classrooms be inhabited with new faces? Walk down the hallways that we once ran through to get to class on time?

People say that our minds are the most powerful force on Earth. While I beg to differ—as logically and scientifically, there is no way that’s possible—I like to think that nostalgia has that kind of power, too. I like to believe that thinking of the past is what allows us to move forward, yet keeps us grounded. I think it’s pretty neat that thinking of a particular memory can mentally transport you to a different space and time.

While I leave you pondering the concept of time and the meaning of your existence, here is a list of things that are sure to jump you back to the 90’s:

  • Sideway Stories from Wayside School
  • Hot Wheels
  • Bracelet making string boxes
  • Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh cards
  • The Lilo & Stitch TV Show
  • Kid’s Cuisine
  • Floam
  • Tamagotchis
  • Legends of the Hidden Temple
  • Oregon Trail
  • When Disney Channel had game shows (Double Dare 2000, am I right?)
  • This song:
