IT’S RAINING MEN HALLELUJAH

Anna Weber, Feature Editor

If you have not seen A Cinderella Story, the classic version with Hilary Duff of course, I have two recommendations. First, watch it. Second, find a perfect football game where it starts raining and the quarterback drastically throws the game to come kiss you in the bleachers. The first recommendation is probably easier, but if you have some rain and a football player handy I’m sure the second recommendation is a plausible option for you as well. For those of you who aren’t into the “kissing a football player in the rain” scene, here are some other exciting activities to do in the rain now that spring is finally here!

  1. Blast “Stand in the Rain” by Superchick whilst standing in the rain.

It’s a foolproof method to reenact the truth from Superchick’s “Beauty in Pain” album, and I bet your voice would sound pitch perfect with the mad beats of thunder coming down in between the words.

2. Listen

Sometimes the beauty of a rainy day is just listening to it. The sound of raindrops as each one hits the Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 8.34.51 PMwindow and slides upon its path to the bottom of the screen is unbeatable. If it’s a storm, then close your eyes for a moment and wait until thunder cracks the sounds around you. It’s exciting, I promise.

  1. Chase the storm.

Following the path of a storm allows you to experience every part of it: when it first builds, its intense maximum, and its final, sudden wilting away. My favorite part about storm chasing is the fact that you can look in one direction and see the looming storm clouds, but turn to face another direction and see a polar opposite blue sky. It all depends on where you go when you first see that raindrop.

  1. Jump in every puddle you see/drive your car through puddles.

TScreen Shot 2015-04-16 at 8.33.52 PMhe thrifty deal-seeker inside me always freaks out when I see a puddle in the road because, come on, free car wash! If you avoid a puddle when you are driving, you are missing out. You could experience the Niagara Falls of Highway 101! If you are not driving, I recommend bringing out your inner-child and jumping into every single puddle that you come across. If you don’t get a tiny bit dirty, you didn’t have enough fun.

  1. Take an outdoor shower.

If you have ever wanted that Tyson tattoo on your face or maybe a cliché “all who wander are not lost” mark, dress up in your finest bathing suit, color yourself, then run around outside. Simply running outsideScreen Shot 2015-04-16 at 8.33.59 PM in my swim suit during a rainstorm is probably one on the most fun moments I’ve had. It’s like track but without the real running.

  1. Document the day.

So many artsy photos can be taken during a rainy day. There’s the classic “focus-on-the-raindrop-not-the-background” pic or the “stormy sky” pic. The options are really endless to take that stellar, insta-worthy photo.

  1. Lay on top of a puddle, preferably the smallest puddle you can find, and continuously yell “I’m drowning, I’m drowning!” (I think it’s funny.)
  1. Stay inside and read (if you don’t like reading, watch a movie).

You do not have to love the outdoors to love a rainy day. Sometimes it’s just the juxtaposition of the cold storm outside and the warm safety of sitting on your couch near a fireplace. A rainy day can make the inside more loveable! Plus, it’s always a good time to curl up next to a window with the pitter-patter of rain and read a book.Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 8.34.06 PM

  1. Dance at every possible moment.

If you absolutely stink at dancing, ie if you’re me, you can dance in the rain because it is already weird that you are running around outside in the rain! Therefore, your dancing cannot make you look any weirder. Logic.

  1. Enjoy the fact that you cannot control the weather, only appreciate it.

If none of these activities have caught your eye, then don’t do anything! Just sit and appreciate the coolness of rain. Unless you’ve created a gravity-based fifth dimension of weather control, you cannot do anything about it anyway! Appreciate the rain. It’s worth it.
