Monica Lewinsky Ted Talk

Monica Lewinsky Ted Talk

Charlotte K, Copy Editor

Though my generation is too young to truly remember the scandal, we’ve all heard the infamous clip of former President Bill Clinton saying, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” The Monica Lewinsky scandal, powered by the recently developed sharing-capacity of the Internet, launched this country not only into political turmoil, but into a blaming, anti-Monica rampage. Nearly twenty years later, Monica Lewinsky has re-emerged with a Ted Talk worth watching. She remembers the media-maelstrom, reveals a personal side never unearthed during the trial, and exhorts us to use the Internet responsibly. As one of the first victims of widespread cyber-bullying, she’s started a campaign to fight it. Lewinsky insists her decision to step back into the public sphere is not politically motivated, thankfully-because judging Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton by her husband’s wrongs only perpetuates the misogynistic political climate of the Lewinsky Scandal.

Without further ado, let me just exhort you to watch this Ted Talk. My words cannot even begin to approach the eloquence and level of sensitivity with which Lewinsky broaches her talk.
