Small Businesses, Continued

Billy Czerwinski

Previously, our very own Business Manager Kate Hoeting gave you seven reasons to support small businesses. With the weather now getting nicer, we’re sure all of you are itching to get out and experience some new things right here in our community. So, we present to you a list of seven of our favorite small and local businesses.

  1. Licks Unlimited

A staple of the Excelsior area and located right on Main Street, Licks is one of the best places to grab a frozen treat before continuing your walk down to the lake.

  1. Coalition

A newer addition to the area, Coalition often sources local vendors to provide a high-quality meal from a diverse and inspired menu.

  1. Heartbreaker

No, I’m not talking about your freshman flame that left you unable to stop buying Licks to eat away your sadness. Heartbreaker is a local clothes store with a few locations that provides fashionable women’s clothing at a reasonable price.

  1. Adele’s

A little competition never hurt anyone, right? Another great place for an ice cream treat, Adele’s serves delicious frozen custard as opposed to Lick’s ice cream. Better than Licks? That’s for you to decide.

  1. Joey Nova’s

Tired of Domino’s delivery? Located right off Manitou road, Joey Nova’s is a great place to bring your friends to grab a slice of delicious pizza pie.

  1. Country Club Lanes

What better way to follow up pizza than with a trip across the parking lot to bowl a few frames? Besides, everyone looks good in bowling shoes.

  1. Patisserie Margo

Another Main Street essential, Patisserie Margo is a true gem of Excelsior. A small family-owned and operated bakery with two locations, they make all of their desserts and pastries from scratch and without preservatives or trans fats. It is a fantastic option for anyone looking for a sweet bite to eat or a loaf of delicious French bread.

Thankfully, there are far more than seven small and local businesses in our area. If you think you have found another great local jewel, let us know on Twitter @mtkabreezes!
