ACT Now: How MHS Students Study for the ACT

It is test day stress. You have put pressure on yourself to get a certain score, and you look around at your peers; they look prepared. To top it off, last night you were scrambling to find your student ID and didn't go to bed until 12. Isn't sleep the best thing you can do to prepare for test day. Darn. You already feel like you are at a disadvantage. To make matters worse, you forgot a snack. After waiting for that one late kid to roll in at 8:07 and filling in bubbles for half an hour, the proctor finally writes the start and stop time on the board, and the countdown begins. Your mind is blank; this is where your preparation takes over.

Sibling Rivalry: High School 2k16 Edition

Starting high school can be kind of scary, to say the least, especially at a place as big as Minnetonka. It can be hard to know exactly who to look up to. Naturally, as freshmen, we all looked up to the senior class because, well, they were older, less awkward, and much louder at Pep Fest. As a freshman, I totally took advantage of the fact that my older brother was a senior; he was practically my role model all of freshman year. When I was a freshman, there was an article similar to this one that was published in Breezes. My brother and I were even interviewed. So, naturally, I thought it would be interesting to interview some current senior and freshmen siblings to look at how they handle things.

Where to Turn in Times of Tragedy

Where to Turn in Times of Tragedy

Alia Arellanes, Editor-in-Chief September 28, 2016
Tragedy is never expected, nor is it ever timely or painless. In times of tragedy and loss, grief is often our innate response. We all mourn in our own ways and at our own pace, and it is vital to recognize and respect these differences to allow others to heal. If you are experiencing any signs of grief, know there is support. You are not alone. Guidance is here and readily available, but if you would rather seek help outside of the school building, please consider going to one of the many organizations in the Twin Cities area that offer support groups for those who need a little extra help coping with the loss of a loved one.
