SENIORS:

While I’m certainly no expert, seniors, here goes my three part advice to make your senior year successful as possible.

  1. Take Risks.

At the end of the day can you say you made the most of your chance? Make sure when you answer that your answer is a confident “yes.”

2. Don’t be afraid to fail.

When you take risks, you will fail. Even thought you will be challenged in junior year, realize that you can come at it the next day with an improved attitude and effort level. That be the greatest thing you can do to help yourself when you’re down.

3. Be nice to people.

Most basically put, I would say that make sure no one can say anything bad about you when you leave.

So, that’s my advice Class of 2014. Do with it what you will, but know that I, along with all of Minnetonka, will be supporting you this year and we wish you the best of luck. Go Skips.

FRESHMEN:

“Freshman year is full of immense change and importance. For the first time since sixth grade, you’re all at the bottom of the food chain. 🙂 Yet, from here you have the best view of so many amazing role models. With countless changes, it’s hard to keep focused on what is really important – good friends and good grades. Wake up every morning with the goal of doing your best, and you’ll thrive in one of the best schools in the US. Because remember, one day you’ll be the seniors the freshman need to look up to.”

JUNIORS:

As Juniors, you’re really getting introduced to the reality of why all of this matters. In the midst of stressing about grades, colleges, and expectations, don’t forget to enjoy the time you have in High School while you have it. Take classes because you are interested in them, and try to apply your interests to what you see yourself doing in life! However, don’t spend too much time stressing about life in the future that you forget to enjoy it in the moment.

SOPHOMORES:

Welcome to Sophomore Year! The good news is, you have been relieved of your newbie duties, and are moving on to bigger and better places. Sophomore year is a time to step back a bit and take advantage of the fact that the high school is full of all kinds of people. Look around in your classes and find the people who make you happy and bring out the best in you. You’ve accomplished finding the math hallway and the best bathrooms, so it’s time to work on what you’ll truly take away from high school. Take academic and social challenges head on with a positive outlook and excitement for what’s to come. You now have Freshmen looking up to you, and Upperclassmen expecting greatness from you. You must graciously accept the leadership role that comes with being a Sophomore. Sophomore year is an awesome time; make the most of it!
