Activity Spotlight: the real blue crew

Twin Cities Youth Rowing is Minnesota’s only youth rowing team and many Minnetonka students practice and compete with them year round. They compete in Chicago, Boston, Milwaukee, and the regional championship in Cincinnati! There are about 100 rowers separated into girls and boys novice and varsity teams, moving into varsity after one year of rowing. The physical demand of rowing is comparable to cross-country skiing and long-distance speed skating! The athletes come from lots of schools around the metro, including our own Ben Wattenhoffer and Reid Rothenberger to name a few. Ben is the boys’ varsity captain this year and would love to talk to you about how much he loves it! For any more information, go to tcyrc.org.

They are offering holiday camps in the next few months for anyone who would like to give rowing a try. Session 1: M-F at 4:15-6:15 and Saturdays from 9-11 from 11/11 until 11/23. Session 2: 12/2 until 12/14 at the same times. Register online!

Rowing is a great sport and activity where you can make friends outside of our Minnetonka community. From the mouth Junior, Reid Rothenberger, “I love rowing because nothing beats the feeling of hard work.”
