Five Reasons You Should Probably Start a Business

First things first, let’s set a few things straight. Unfortunately, you will probably never find yourself on Forbes’ list of the richest Americans. Secondly, the chances of you inventing the next iPhone are extremely low. Now that being said, here a few reasons why you might want to give it a shot regardless.

You want to fix a problem. Ever looked at something and thought to yourself, “There has got to be a better way?” Well find it, and do something about it! Chances are there a few other people out there who might agree with your solution.ceo

What do you really have to lose? If you start a business in high school, you really don’t have anything major on the line (besides maybe some dignity). You aren’t trying to support a family, and you aren’t trying to pay off your mortgage. In reality, the timing couldn’t be better.

You can do it better. We’ve all had those moments. You see something and then spend the next few minutes (or hours, if you’re anything like me) convincing yourself and those around you that you could easily do a better job.

You have a vision. For some people, they think of an idea that they just can’t shake. Like entrepreneurial demigods Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs, they foresee what they believe to be the future and, in turn, become consumed by it. Think you’ve discovered the next revolutionary product? Prove it.

You’ve got the capitalist bug. Did the first few lines of this article drive you crazy? Do you have a burning desire to prove me wrong? Well if so, then odds are your next move is going to be a search titled “how to start a business.”

Many will say that starting a business is too hard, and there is no way a high schooler could ever find success. Well, it’s not always about making billions. Starting a business is a great way to get real world experience- it can teach you everything from law to finance. Now, I could caution you on the hardships that come with being a business owner, but my guess is that if any of these reasons hit home, you wouldn’t listen anyways.
