Battle of the Fandoms

We live in a world dominated by Tumblr-worthy fandoms. It seems like every book, TV show, movie, and video game has a cult following these days. The fans of these different media are called fangirls and fanboys and each and everyone of them is willing to fight to the death in the name of his or her favorite show. Three of these most notable TV fandoms come from across the pond in the UK. To help you decipher why these three shows are popular, we’ve comprosed three simple lists of the top five reasons why they are the best. Whovians (Dr. Who):

The word “Whovian” is in the Oxford Dictionary – it’s in the DICTIONARY.

The whole fandom has lasted 51 years; Whovians have a very large age range.

David Tennant AND Matt Smith have both played the Doctor.

There are many epic speeches, quotes, and emotional scenes that make

you get all teary.

Best of all, the whole show teaches you about the wibbly wobbly timey

wimey side of life.

 

Potterheads (Harry Potter):

Readers exhibit a full range of emotions whether they watch or read this masterpiece.

Any age group can learn great life lessons growing up alongside Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

There are entire lives dedicated to the series – such as the band Harry and the Potters.dog

Amazing theme parks have been built to capture the magic of the Harry Potter Universe

The Harry Potter Puppet Pals are possibly the best YouTube series to watch when you are missing the trio.  Which is always.

 

Sherlockians (Sherlock):

Benedict Cumberbatch is the modern incarnation of Sherlock Holmes.

Period.

Sherlockians are willing to wait years for just three new episodes with only a few death threats to the writers.

Sherlockians worship Sherlock Holmes as their god, generating a sense of belonging.

Fans are taken on a ninety-minute whirlwind in every episode.  Each one challenges viewer’s minds while also entertaining them.

Sherlockians learn important skills from Sherlock – like how to belittle people and make your besties think they’re dead.
