Zoboomafoo: In Memorium

Zoboomafoo: In Memorium

Only the best of men are able to define a generation—even rarer is a lemur able to. With a heavy heart, I must report that on Monday Novemebr 10th Jovian, better known as Zoboomafoo was pronounced dead at the Duke Lemur Center in Durham, North Carolina due to kidney failure. Gracing PBS Monday through Friday during the early 2000’s, Zoboomafoo taught kids across the nation about animal biology and conservation, giving many their first glimpse of exotic animals from lions and bats, to penguins. Simutanuesly goofy yet loaded with information, Zoboomafoo fostered a love for nature and the environment in countless youth. Living to the ripe old age of 20.5,  it is time to acknowledge that “doing the things that animals do” includes death. Though Zoboomafoo may be gone, he will live on in spirit as long as our generation continues to make an effort to preserve nature and the wildlife Zoboomafoo loved so much.
