Health Tip of the Month: Siesta with Sinkler

This month’s health tip comes from Ms. Sinkler, an English teacher here at MHS. Her advice is to sleep, which is tough for many students at our school to follow. Many students spend those valuable shut eye hours cramming for tests. While tomorrow’s tests are important, so is tonight’s sleep.  She see the importance of sleep, and notices its beneficial effects on her students.  Some people can even feel physically ill from lack of sleep. Each extra hour of sleep equates to more energy for the next day.  And for tomorrow’s test, the extra sleep will help you perform well.  Sleep helps information sink into the brain. It is much harder to remember information without a nightly slumber to synthesize and remember everything. Without sleep, concentration and alertness are just as challenging as taking the actual test. I can assure you that from firsthand experience. Sleep is just as important as studying; they go hand in hand for success in school.  So next time you have a big test coming up, remember hitting the hay is just as important as hitting the books.
