After a grueling Minnesota winter, spring is the first time when people yearning for summer can step outside and finally feel the touch of warmth. Although people tend to stand true to their seasonal opinions, it is undeniable that spring is one of, if not the best seasons of the year.

Compared to the other seasons, the weather of spring is almost perfect. Summer is too hot, winter is way too cold, and while fall starts off nice, it just gets colder and colder. It’s the most optimistic season too, because even though the weather is already almost perfect, you know that the temperature is only going to get warmer and daylight longer. While spring is great on its own, it’s also true that many people like spring because of the closeness of summer break.
Annika Tran, ‘26, shares that she likes spring because “it starts to get warmer,” and also “means school is almost over.” However, some people disagree with the hype around spring. Since it’s right after winter, spring is sometimes characterized by slush, mud, and irregular snow fall at its beginning. When it starts to get warmer, it becomes the season of allergies. Tran recounts that spring is “when there is a lot of pollen, which [she’s] allergic to.” While spring is awesome in so many ways, it sometimes falls short of expectations.
Some people don’t get to appreciate the beauty of spring quite like others, but that does not mean it is not a wonderful season. Whether you love flowers, hate pollen, or despise mud, go step outside and soak up the grace of spring!
