Pure DECAdence

Pure DECAdence

Billy Czerwinski and Kate Hoeting

With being at the DECA State Development Conference these past few days, your favorite business writers decided that as long as we were sitting in the hallway, we might as well do something productive. So we thought we’d take the moment to inform you about DECA, the whole reason we are camping out in a hotel (wearing classy suits, no less) in the first place. That being said, here are the top ten reasons to become a part of DECA.

  1. Experience Mr. Sills unrelenting sarcastic wit.

Ask any question and you’re almost guaranteed a slap with words.

  1. Improve your public speaking skills.

I promise you’ll need them eventually.

  1. Gain confidence.

Learn how to walk with swag in your step everywhere you go, just like Joe Wolff.

  1. Learn how to communicate your ideas under a time limit.

As nice as it would be, unfortunately you don’t always have forever to get your point across.

  1. Strands dance moves.

Her moves put opposing chapters to shame. You have to see it to believe it.

  1. Community service.

Who doesn’t love giving back? DECA gives you opportunities to do so with some great people.

  1. Learn how to think on your feet.

Life isn’t scripted, and neither is DECA. Here, you can learn to think on your feet and always have a response to any question that gets thrown your way.

  1. Leadership.

Become the leader Mr. Rogers always knew you could be.

  1. Career preparation

DECA can prepare for everything from job interviews to working with a team in a business setting. You’re all going to have a job someday, and DECA can prepare you for any type of career.

  1. #NATTIES

It’s a thing. We started it.
