With 11 Grammys, 32-year-old Taylor Swift is one of the top singers in the world. Most recently, Swift made a public announcement at the 2022 MTV Awards that grabbed the attention of the music world: the creation of a new album, Midnights, released on October 21, 2022.

Described as representing “13 sleepless nights in [Swift’s] career”, Midnights broke the record of the most streamed album in a single day in Spotify history. Additionally, over half the album is already part of numerous Tik Tok trends, with thousands of videos flooding the app every day.

“I just adore Midnghts,” said Claire Tungseth, ‘23, “[Midnights] is new and fresh, which is what the music industry has been in need of. The songs somehow all manage to fit together perfectly even through the different tempos.”

“I really feel like this album is Taylor having stopped writing for other people and started writing just blunt, truthful things,” shared Josie Chose, ‘24. “I think this one was for her, and she’s done succumbing to the haters. To be honest, I’m really proud of her.” Chose’s top three favorite songs of the album are “Karma”, “Mastermind” and “You’re on Your Own, Kid”.

With tour tickets and dates already released, fans have gone crazy, and it is hard to keep up with the number of updates Taylor Swift has given to the world in such a short amount of time. We’ll see by the end of the year how Swift is feeling 2022.
