Clash Royale, nicknamed “Clash,” is just your average mobile game. It is a spin-off from the universe of Clash of Clans, a game that came out in 2012 revolving around medieval themes where players act as clans attacking other clans. These games have the same characters and the way the games are played are essentially the same, but the developers wanted a live gameplay experience. Clash Royale came out in 2016, and for some reason, it is very popular right now.
Zeke Rosenstein, ‘27, leader of the Clash Royale Club, says he thinks the hype came from the streamer Jynxzi, “Ever since the club formed at our school I’ve been wondering if the love around Clash is ironic or if people do feel that strongly about this game. I played the game for 10 minutes before quitting because I just think the game doesn’t have much to offer.” Rosenstein, however, said that he created the club “for the greater good of humanity.” Clash Royale is not really a complex game and you could find anything like it in the app store; but I think people have fun making it into a big deal, and what’s the harm in that?
